But they are slow, and the Inv. save is iffy. Lots of points and not a lot of ummph in IMHO.
As slow as Abbaddon on foot...which thanks to running isn't so bad anymore. The lack of a 2+ or 3+ save isn't quite necesary as the he's only really dealing with heavy weapons fire with his toughness 8. massed Snipers are one of those few units where I think C'tan go "Aw crap!"
funny enough. Abbaddon cost is one of the most similar to the C'tan coming in at 275 pts (?)
i'd say they're comparable and any time you have massed fire allocated towards a monster rather than you scoring units...It's probably working in your favor.
That's still 25 points cheaper than the cheaper C'Tan.

Hence Similar and not "identical to"
C'tan, like Wraithlords, are actually one ofthe best at taking small arms fire which often suppliments Heavy weapons fire. Someties a Boltgun from a Tac squad WILL damage a Abbadon along with the plasma or lascannon. It will never do so against a C'tan.
Just to be clear, None of my statements in this post meant to do anything similar to idenfying broken units. I'm merely highlighting tough hombre endurance based units who soak fire for an army well for their cost...especially with scoring units and 5th ed in mind.

I agree. Abaddon is completely broken.

the god fex comes in at 260, apparently. that might have to be running in contention with abbadon.
I think lysander is the poor mans abbadon, but that means that you'll see lots more lysanders running around in 1500 pt games than you will abbadons- and you probably won't see any c'tan. Relative points value, then seems to play a role in how nasty your guy is.
