Hey all,
We've been playing with the D-Co flyer rules for about 4 years now. They were originally designed so that we could play games with flyers and actually have them sit on the table (something the Old FW rules didn't do well.
For the majority of of their existance, Flyers have played a minimal role in our games, with only the craziest players like Joe and myself wielding more than a token amount of flyers. But as Flyers and AA weapons become more mainstream, we are probably going to see more and more of them on the field. Because of this, GW/FW rules will change over time and our rules will likely make some measure to change with them, requiring continual revision. This year, they fell rather out of whack, as my job situation has made it more difficult for me to keep the rules nice and tidy.
My question to the Company is, How many players prefer we continue with our rules over switching back to the GW Apoc rules for flyers? I'm willing to keep on them and can probably get them looking pretty by Rock Con, but I certainly don't want to do this if people would rather just use the Out-of-the-box flyer rules.
I won't be responding to this post. I want to get the group's concensus, not proliferate my own.

| Being new to flyers and using them for the first time in the big game this year, I feel that we should keep working on them. I've spent the last couple of weeks trying to understand the book rules and I, at least, found ours to be much easier to comply with. We should keep it up.

I say the rules should continue to evolve. I think that by taking what we like from GW/FW and combining them, or altering to our needs, is the best course of action.

I think they are fine and workable. I for sure, positive don't want to use the Apoc flyer rules. They are way to easy and the fact that facing doesn't count for anything is just plane stoopid.
We keep working on ours but as they stand right now they are pretty good.

i think we should use a "buffet" approach. take what you like from whatever evolutions occur in the GW/FW rules. then incorporate them into ours.
should we simplify ours a bit, keeping what we like the most?

| A buffet approach is a great way of putting it since it looks like Apoc and Forge World are perpetually updating their rules as well.

No kidding. Every time you can go back for seconds or thirds on bacon, it is a good thing.
Now how can we incorporate 2nd and 3rd helpings of bacon in the flyer rules?
How about: on a 2+ every player on the board receives one strip of bacon.

I like our rules, and where they are heading.. that said, the Eldar do need to be looked at for reasons we discussed at the big game Derling. I have a strange feeling that Eldar flyers will soon be seen on a game board...
