Well, I'm working on a junkyard, scrapile, pile of crap area for my big mek for the big game.  Not really for any other reason than I just felt that if we're going to have an ork settlement, ya need one of these things.

first draft photos coming up, any comments or recomendations are welcome of course.

The next step on this little bugger is to build the mek's forge.  I need to find some rhino track sides for it, as I want to cut them in half at an angle and use the back hatch area as the actual forge part.  I also have to build up some tire towers and some other slag and gubbins piles for the 'parts' that the Mek uses for his creations.

I'm wondering if I should make up some light poles at the corners of the fences for some 'junkyard effect'.  These will be much taller than the posts, maybe 6" high, and provide overhead lighting.  Of course I have to get some more squigs and squighounds for the 'sekurity' of the place.  I was also planning on using some filler on the base to make some mud effects and also to hold miscellanous bits sticking out of the ground, not to mention tire tracks all over the place.

I should probably make some sort of 'dog house' for the squigs to live in also, or maybe a squig pen.  (Christ, this is starting to sound like some sort of 'barbie playhouse' kind of thing.)

Wow man, those are all really good ideas.  I'm not sure you could incorporate all of them onto that piece of terrain however.... unless you make it bigger!   muahahahhaha!!!  BIGGER!  :D

The light poles and sekurity squigs sound good.  Add the forge and the gubbins piles, and that should look pretty sweet.

What is that clear base you're working off of?  Some kind of clear plastic?

I'm familiar with the fencing material, but what are the posts made from?  Plastic rod?

The clear material is plexi-glass, I ground down on the edges to make them look more terrain worthy.  This is the same base that I made for Stormcallers biotitan.  The posts are actually plastic post screws that I sell at my store.

Bigger?  This thing is already 22" square.  I'm not sure that it needs to be any bigger, but I'll stew on it a bit.;)

you don't need to make it bigger.  haha.  I was just saying that if you're going to add a forge, lights, several scrap heaps, squigs, puddles, tire tracks, and squig houses (or a whole squig compound!) then it probably all won't fit on what you've got.

But I've been wrong before.  Go for it! :)

This one is coming along nicely.  This is the garage that will be in the middle of the junkyard.  The forge is removable, along with the scrap piles and the trukk lifter.  There is even going to be a landing platform on top for deffkoptas!

Comments welcome.:)

And now.......  I did some barry shots to let you all in on what's going on in my head.

First shot has plenty of models in it for the effect.  Basically, a bunch of meks running around making things.

The idea of building the factory and the junkyard together so I could keep color coherency when airbrushing is working well.  Granted, the fact that I have used an entire bottle of paint on them both so far is a bit disconcerting, but nobody's plans are 100% and this is just one of the items that I forgot about.

Enjoy, and Comments and critiques are always welcome.

Thank you very much.  The fading technique worked extremely well on the building.  It involves a stutter spray out of the gun at high pressure to get a blast effect.  Once you make a line of paint in one area, you then blast the area over in concentric circles to get an overlapped effect and a blotchyness that I just can't mimick with a regular brush.  After the wash is when you really see the effectiveness of this technique.
