Dear Mother,
All has been quiet on the Eastern Front now for quite some time. Orders came down this morning that I am to be shipped West, to camp Rockford. I leave at 18:30 hours and should be in camp by 21:30 hours local time.
Reports are that both enemy and friendly forces are converging on this position. Finally I should get to see some action and put my training to use! I can't wait to see some of the fellas from boot camp who are also being re-assigned to this zone of activity. We should have some good times re-telling stories of old and catching up on each other's lives since training.
I know that there will be some risky business involved out west, but I just want you and Pop to know how excited I am to finally be involved in the fight and defending our homes against the enemies of man!
I promise to be safe, and I've been promised that as soon as the action has cooled down out West that I'll be back East resting my heels at this infernal desk once again.
