Twas the night before the Big Game

and all over my table

pieces of orks littered about

like tales of woe and fable.

My paint tubes were squeezed,

and the hairs of my brushes teased,

yet there is still so much work to be done

as my army is not yet fully cheesed.

. . .and for some reason
I was stuck out of season,
on the East Coast (what a bummer!)
like a snowman in summer.

And at slumber they lay,
700 rengade guardsmen today,
in their foam, asleep fast
ready to hand you your ass.

But not this year yet,
so go fuck yourself and get,
a good running head start,
and swallow your own fart.

Next year I will be back,
a plasma gun in you ass crack.
You're lucky it's not my turn,
or your fucking Titan would burn.

Fuck you, oh fuck you,
you imperial buffoon,
you don't know how to fight
but even so you're alright.

... and I couldn't go.

instead i'd move out of state

and escape all that damned snow!

When suddenly on this forum

arose such a chatter

The Big Game is coming!

and i couldn't be sadder.

I'd miss Brad's drinking

and rosy red cheeks

and the "I LOVE you man!"s

that he consistantly speaks.

Tim's mechanical pencils

Busily clicking away

His feverish gaming mind

would need two clicky pencils that day.

Dacio's cheering

and silly remarks

spreading Nurgle's plague

with beer and brat farts

Mark's improved Orks

and good natured spirit

His conversations would be grand

and this year i'd miss it

And all the others

that i hold so dear

from Braden to Jake

I'd miss them all this year

So on Travis on Brad

on Jake and Pen dull

on twaimm and Grimlock

and my dear friend ethmongul

Drink beer and roll dice

kill imaginary hordes

laugh and cheer on

your armies fighting upon game boards

And know that i'll be thinking

as i drive out of sight

"Merry Big Game to all

and to all a good fight."

i want to cry. :(

Twas the day after Big Game,
the Emperor's not pleased.
His mighty Ultramarines,
Were brought to their knees.

The armies of Chaos,
all foul and bent,
consumed their mighty souls,
and their armor was rent.

The sons of Guilliman,
noble, heroic and more,
fought bravely and valienty,
yet died by the score.

That corruption of man,
those marked by the beast,
would just not die,
nor yield in the least.

Despite plasma, lascannon,
bolter, and flame,
they kept fighting on,
cheering their foul lord's name.

Valiant assault Terminators,
Lightning Claws at the ready
disappeared into the ethos,
the teleporter's aim was not steady.

Their Baneblade was consumed,
by a vortex of blight.
thrown from the hand,
of an Assassin, out of sight.

Even their fearsome titan,
lording above all,
could not prevent their defeat.
Could not prevent their fall.

Bloody and battered,
blasted and sore,
they withdrew from the field,
but WILL be back for more!

very nice Midnight!  From your poem, can I assume that your baneblade was taken out by an assassin with a vortex grenade?  Man!  That is sooooo 2nd Edition cheese it ain't even funny!  I  don't know why GW thought it would be a good idea to bring that back. :?

the hounds were unleashed on the ultramarines friday night, placed in the middle they sat gripping bolters tight, when off of the flank, kharn set out tank, and torn the bleeding hearts out of all marines in sight.

next came the orks on saturday morn, unfortunately the lined up against khorne, the bloodbath that followed was legendary to date,200 ork skulls on my plate, kharn himself survived for the pit,and got taken out with only one hit.

sunday began with hangover fun,but after breakfast was served it was 15000 points on the board, oh my goodness what fun, the turns that followed suprised and amazed, with angoth and 140 orks in the combat in the middle our eyes were glazed, thats right dear readers over 60,000 points on the board, bring a new definition to the chaos hoard, but deep strike and 10" templated took there toll, and chaos was defeated again by a lucky roll.

are limricks actually rhiming?

Yep.  An assassin popped in out of nowhere and vortexed the Baneblade.  That damn thing sat on the tank for 2 rounds, eating up all the structure points.  Then we tried to teleport a squad of Assault Terminators into the portal to secure it, and deviated onto another unit and they were all destroyed.  Even the titan was hard-pressed to kill anything.  At one point we scored 7 wounds on a squad of marines w/ a Vulcan mega-bolter, and Bradon made ALL 7 cover saves.  lol

Man, the Ultramarines did not put forth their best showing.  But it was exciting having the game be decided literally by the last shot of the game.

Having missed the Big Game,

was such a crying shame,

having spent all week, in class as I sat,

it is good to see the spirit of D-Company is back!

There once was an ork on my table

That held a gun that had a big cable

The end could spin

and the Mek would grin

As your army died like Clark Gable.
