I was paging through my rulebook while on the crapper at work.
In the introduction section on page ix, they have a picture of a thousand points of marines.
Commander, Two tac squads (10 each), 5 man terminator squad with assault cannon, 5 space marine bikes, Landspeeder, Predator D
Is that really just a thousand points?

If you keep the Commander cheap, and don't take vet sarges for the tac squads and the bike squad... yeah, it should be around 1,000 points.

| I'd also hazard to guess that the picture might include some White Dwarf math, where things don't always add up.

Then the space marine codex is "cheaper" than the dark angel one.
I priced it out in the 1200 point range (based just on the wargear in the picture).
That's 20% more for the same cost.

I don't think that is unusual. I'm pretty sure that Kevin has mentioned his Blood Angels cost differently than vanillas. Both troop and vehicle costs are different, I think.
If I just try to do it off the top of my head:
Bare-bones Commander is maybe, what? 100 points?
Two tac squads, assuming marines are 15 points with not sarge and maybe 25 points of weapon upgrades per squad - 175 x 2 = 350
Vanilla Termies are how much? 40? 40 x 5 = 200 plus Ass Cannon is like 25? = 225
Bikes I think are 30??? = 150 for bikes
Landspeeder = 50
Pred D = 100
Total = 975
I'm positive there's a lot of wiggle room in there, but it seems close. Close enough for me to believe it's possible anyway.

| that is pretty close. landspeeders for blood angels are more like 65, but a predator destructor with no sponsons is only 70.
