Hey LATD players-
Let's get this forum kick-started, shall we?

This is The Colony, my list from the October 2005 D Company tournament. I played five games with it, and ended the weekend with two wins, two losses, and a draw.

The strengths- mutants, and lots of them. I just can't say enough good things about 20 mutants being led by an aspiring champion with a powerfist, who sort of acts as their supervisor.

The weaknesses- you might not think it (I certainly didn't!) but the army suffered terribly against vehicles, it was just too tough to knock them out. Both my losses, against Steve's Space Wolves and Rob's IG were spectacular massacres, where I lost basically every model I had. It's not just tanks of course, both of those guys out-played me, but I was unable to silence their tanks and they slaughtered me.

The small guard squads with lascannons were a mistake. Marines would have been a much better investment.

sounds like a plan, here's mine from the same tourny

"lost, damned, but surprisingly cheerful"

my strengths were for the same reason as slovaks, though they ended up being the nurglings, for the most part.

my weakenesses were twofold, one, I folded under the pressure of armored lists, just as slovaks did, due to a significant lack of armor penetration ability. I needed those three exorcists.  second, because almost half my army isn't scoring units, I ran into problems in the objective-based missions. in a cleanse or all out kill-the-other-guy game this army will perform infinitly better, but getting the most scoring units on the middle of the board by the end of the game is rough if your opponent knows what to shoot.

I agree with small marine squads with heavy weapons. possibly a raptor squad with melta guns for a quick threat?

HQ-
#1. chaos lt. (45)
mark of nurgle, mutation, strength, venom blade, spikey bits, ccw: 71

#2. bogart, greater deamon of nurgle (150)
winds of chaos: 0

hq total- 266

Troops-
#1. 9 gibbering hordes (nurglings) bases (90)

#2. 9 gibbering hordes (nurglings) bases (90)

#3. 9 gibbering hordes (nurglings) bases (90)

#4. 28 mutants (168)
plague zombies upgrade: 84

#5. 8 traitors (64)
lascannon: 20

troops total- 606

Fast attack-
#1. 8 traitors (64)
lascannon, vet sgt, power fist: 45

Rhino (50)
extra armor, smoke, blasphemous runes: 18

fast attack total- 177

Elites-

#1. 14 plague marines (266)
chosen, power weapon, stength, chains, 2 melta guns, infiltrate: 97

elites total- 363

Heavy Support-
#1. Basilisk (100)
indirect fire: 25

#2. 5 chaos spawn (100)

heavy support total- 225

total-1637
incidentally, this comes out to 14 points less than I pointed it for the tourny, however that might be my adding now or then, I'm not sure

There were a few other armies that suffered for that, but as long as it wasn't over, I figured it wasn't my place to tell them they couldn't add!

Drink like a zombie and pass out on the shag rug.

Or the patio furniture.

I'm just starting to realize, after this weekend and seven games in 36 hours just how much I love the LATD list. It's a really good one, creative and free-wheeling and pretty hot.

I'm also realizing though how limited the game is in general because it's so directed and full of inevitable outcomes. Abstractly, in fact, it's not that fun at all. It isn't really satisfactory to me to do something over and over that can only turn out one of several ways when you know full well before-hand what any of those outcomes are. I'm not enough either scientist or statetician to find wonder proving this or that abstract mathematical thesis to myself when making lunch cosistently provides more opportunity to find surprise and company.

But that probably makes me an even better Lost and Damned player. There's something about this list that is just full of the futility of the game.

I think perhaps it was made up by someone at GW who was fully sick of 40k.

you know, there's something to that
lost and damned is one of the least competative lists I have come across, on the margine.

and yet it provides one of the most varied in actual model combinations, and when you're planning on losing, perhaps that's the most important part.

True enough.

Maybe this area of the forum should be called "Lost and Damned and Krootie".

Maybe "home of the converted"

Armies never intended to be supported.
Larks of the GW staff, etc...
