Brother Marshal de Molay, Commander, 3rd Crusade (Left Battle)
Sir,
I have received your request for assistance, but can not respond with any assets at this time. We have been assigned to planetary duty on Planet #53207 for over a year and a half. We have finally removed the heretical, false "emperor/god", Brett Farve, but are currently assisting the rather, mediocre Planetary Defense Force while they attempt to quell a cheese riot in Juneotown. I will notify you when I can assist you. May the strength of the Emperor be with you.
Respectfully submitted,
Colonel Holger Fritz, Commander, 69th Mordian Regiment

Icarus Rising wrote: The grey Arvus Lighter set down in the dust clouded dawn. A single servitor in crimson robes strode unwaveringly toward the HQ barracks of the Space Wolves, the rosette of the Inquisition clearly displayed on the servitor allowed unquestioned passage by the pickets set before the command center as the servitor entered.
"Astartes Coldblood- your insolence has been recorded in the Imperial Annals of his Emperors Holy Inquisition- the fact that the Emperor's Holy Inquisition requested your presence should be all a loyal Astartes needs to respond."
"If it is His will that the reasons for your presence here are required by you, all will be revealed. If furtherence of his Holiness' will is not enough reason for action by the Wolf Chapter, then perhaps yet another check mark should be added to the Hereticus column of the fringe Space Wolves Chapters annals?"
"Lord Nihilius will not tolerate any further threats from you to his staff. May I relay to him that this is understood and that you will pursue your mission here on Kalkovac without further delay and will be carried out as your loyalty demands?"
"My Lord awaits your response."
Wolf Lord Brawn Coldblood had been in the middle of briefing one of his subordinates on the days operations when the robed servitor had made its entrance and begun to relay its message. He made a half-hearted attempt to acknowledge the crimson clad machine-man by occasionally offering flippant waives of his hand and affirmative head nods while he continued to discuss things with the young space marine in front of him. Once done with the briefing of his brother Space Wolf, the two marines quickly saluted each other and while still standing at attention to each other the Wolf Lord gently nodded in the direction of the babbling servitor and offered his fellow marine a crinkled face of crossed eyes and a projected tongue from the corner of his mouth as he silently mimicked the Servitors speech. The younger marine allowed himself a wry smile as he bowed his head and walked out of the barracks accompanied by a friendly and hearty smack on the back by the Wolf Lord.
Crossing his arms, Brawn now gave his full attention to the Servitor in time to hear his final statements.
"Pursue without further delay?", Brawn asked incredulously. "Further delay?"
Braun began to pace around the standing Servitor as he spoke to it.
"Servitor, it is we Space Wolves who executed our landings ahead of schedule. It is we Space Wolves who were the first to manuever and engage the enemy. It is we Space Wolves who, upon defeating said enemy, secured this very base of operations and were ready to continue our push forward until we were redirected to join De Molay's Templars in the south. Redirected by your own Lord Nihilus."
The Wolf Lord stopped his pacing and stood face to face with the machine-man in robes. The Servitor did not respond but instead stood silently showing no emotion. Brawn's hightened senses, a genetic gift carried by all Space Wolves, alerted him to a silent whirring sound eminating from within the strange cybernetic creature standing before him and he wondered what sort of gyroscopic contraptions were busily spinning away within it. He gave a brief sniff of the air closer to the Servitor and quickly recoiled with a snarl when the scent did not agree with him. He had never grasped how to best communicate with the cold logic banks of these Servitor creatures.
He continued, "I cannot fault the courage of the brave Templars. The enemy here is strong indeed. They have been delayed however. I suspect the Mordian 69th of being conveniently delayed wherever possible and my suspicions of their actions at Louise have never been cleared through their consequent actions. Even our esteemed Inquisitor Gallus, assigned to this army by Nihilus himself to keep us appraised of political matters, seems to be delaying every move."
"We are not Nihilus' personal army to be used as he sees fit. These rebels wish to blind themselves to the Emperor, and we will enlighten them to His Holy Magnificense with great conviction and the awesome power granted to us through His Great Wisdom."
"But I would not see us spend many thousands of lives to keep a corrupt Planetary Governor in office simply because the bureaucracy which put him there could not admit their own mistakes. It is corrupt and abusive governments that often lead the citizenry to find help wherever they can. Perhaps Nihilus favors the entrenched and inept government here too much."
"Or perhaps Nihilus and his under-study Gallus have some clandestine plans to promote their own power within this region. Perhaps the Inquisition has found something in the desolate wastleland here on Kalkovac that they wish to keep to themselves? Something unseen stirs upon this wretched planet, and I do not aim to send my brothers to battle for a cause that could potentially shield the Emperor's Light from these people."
"This is no simple military operation of conquest or defense. This is a joint operation and investigation whereby the Lesser Inquisitor Gallus has been assigned to me in order to answer any misgivings I may have about the operation."
"I pray that he does so with less delay than is currently customary."
"As for my 'insolence', Servitor," said Brawn as he cracked a sly smile and folded his arms, "you may relay to your Lord Nihilus that I do not regard its record as the blemish he apparently thinks it is."

So... where are we at here?
Friday night game - 5,000 points per side. Arrival time 6pm with first dice at 7:30pm or so?
Half Wolves/Half Templars Vs. Kalkovac Rebel Forces.
Scenario yet to be determined by Peter.
Yes? I want to start writing a list.
ya know... if we are playing into the wee hours Friday night... we could do 6,000 points.

6,000 it is then. Six K.
Mutha-fucka.
Arrival and gametime confirmed.
Although you better check with on Jeppy for his force disposition-? He may have less than 3k painted, in which case you may need to make up the difference.
Bring it.

Do we have a general idea of the scenario yet?
Private tranmissions have been sent to Commander De Molay requesting details of his force composition.
* and by the way... Yipee! I can't wait to play again!

I think we should use the Rules of Engagement, it makes for pretty balanced scenarios.
Are you thinking 3k per force org list? So you take two lists combined, and I take two? I can do that, but I wasn't sure how easy it is for the wolves and Templar to fit 3k into a single list.

Rules of Engagement. Totally Cool. I loved it last time.
We'll have two lists. One for Jeppy and one for me. It will be a real stretch for me to cram 3500 points into a single list for Wolves (assuming that Jeppy brings the original 2500) but I'm positive I can do it... somehow.
Still waiting on Jeppy's response. If I run across a situation where we can't field a legal and painted force, then I'll alert you to it ASAP to see if we can work something out.
We should be good though.

I just sent Wolf Man a PM with a list of 2500 points, having not read the last few emails, but I was already planning on bring an extra 500 points to add to it for Sunday (Major vs Me), so once I've got that added to the list, I'll PM it to you Wolf man. I'm all set. Major (2 lists, 6000pts. total), Wolf Man (1 list, 3000pts), Jeppy (1 list, 3000pts).

Wolf Man, I've just PM'd you my 3000pt list Wolf.
Guys, what should we do for food? It is the 4th of July on Saturday, should we grill out before the baseball game?

I'll be hitting the road saturday before you guys take off for baseball, but I'm all for chowing down before we head out seperate ways.
I have a brand new Weber little smokey grill in my trunk complete with "light the bag" bag of charcoal and paper plates and plastic dinner ware and all that jazz. It was leftover from when a friend and I realized that there is no tailgaiting at Nationals Park in D.C.
We could grill Friday night and Saturday if Peter has a spot.
Do we need to bring beer/smokes/food or anything???

Great, bring the grill- there's a courtyard where we can hang out and cook, that will be perfect.
Beer is expensive here (as you'll both remember) so Steve if you're driving get an extra 12 pack (not Miller lite) for me and I'll settle with you when you get here (if that's cool?). Smokes are cheap enough, and store is not far away.
I'll make food for friday night; probably guard stew, bread, and water. Hard boiled eggs. Possum.
Steve- bring your inflatable bed, Dave I got one since last time you visited so there is plenty of comfortable accomodation.
Playing area will be 5' x 10' with 12" deployment zones. Scenario will be Rules of Engagement, if you want to bring your own objective markers fine otherwise I'll provide, terrain will be woods and a small compound board center with a couple units of trigger-happy and confused guardsmen inside the compound who will fire each turn on the nearest unit (friendly or unfriendly) with heavy stubbers until they are silenced. That will make an interesting dynamic and a good place to put a couple objective markers.
Pre-battle fluff to follow.

I'm very excited! I've already put in about 5 hours of painting mini's today...I actually ran out of one color of paint. I'm really looking forward to this.
