Lads,
I'm visiting the new Terry family palacial estate in Eau Claire with my son for the holiday. For the old timers, I was thinking about the Floor Game Freezer Fest.
In the new house, which is even more ridiculous than the old Lake Geneva house, my dad was son kind as to leave another large, unfinished space to game in. This one even has heat in it.
Anyone interested in playing a floor game again for next years big game? There's everything we could want including a bar and multiple big screen televisions inside the house.
Floor Game II, Return of the Frostbite! Who is up for it?

what holiday is that? Christmas?
Joe and I have actually written letters back and forth to each other detailing how we want to run Big Game '09. And Casa De Terry has come up a number of times as POSSIBLE locations (hope you don't mind Chris ).
Now, of course that all depends on when Joe rejoins the troops...
In any case, if you're talking about Memorial Day weekend, then I'm probably out since that is going to be a weekend full of Brewers games at D.C.'s brand new stadium for me.
If you're talking Christmas, then sure, why not? I'll make sure to spend Turkey Day with the family, then X-Mas should be all freed up for me to do whatever. That is nine months away however...

I was talking about easter, that pagan holiday converted by the christians for domination, like most other major holidays.
i haven't been to this establishment since it was under construction, so the finished product was something to behold.
the when should revolve around Joe. That goes without saying.

Ah, I see. I thought you were "going" to go visit the palace that Terry built... not that you were actually there.
As I said, it is entirely possible that Big Game '09 might get moved North West, Joe and I are still thinking on it. There was some back and forth over whether or not BG'09 should be an actual "event" type event (Joe's initial stance) or more of a D-Company Sociable type event (my initial stance - oh, and I said 'sociable'... DRINK!) I believe I've convinced Joe that we need another barrel-party type big game.
Either way, we want to get back to the floor. Whether that is in Eau-Claire or some Milwaukee Hotel, we're not sure. Also, the game itself will most likely be scenario driven. I'm not talking about several different scenarios over the course of the weekend, i'm saying there will be one HUGE scenario "The Battle" that will have several different objectives. Also, the theme will be Imperial Vs. Orks. We'll make exceptions for those folks who absolutely, positively cannot imagine ever playing a game without their precious Chaos, Necron, or 'Nid models, but frankly we'd like to have a more story driven Big Game next year and keeping the warring armies to those of the Imperium and Ork Clans is much easier on us story-wise. Plus, we're just sick to death of Chaos and fruity Eldar and such.
To let you know how strongly we feel about this, Joe has even offered up the point of allowing other people to use his models. Joe is VERY protective of his toys...
It's good that you've posted this, Chris. Because we do need to know who would be willing to take a road-trip to Eau-Claire if that is what we decide needs to be done.

I have the okay from the parental units, especially if Joe is somehow involved. My parents (especially my dad) love Joe like another son.
The space is smaller than the lake geneva space, but there's no checkpoint charlie to run through on the way to the house, in fact its just a series of right turns off the interstate. This will keep me from flying off the deep end with that 40 minute round trip to the park and ride.
It took me just over four hours of driving time to make it here from my house including a "baby" emergency at a rest stop in portage, so its a drive but its not too far. It freeway all the way from Milwaukee.
Like LG, it has plenty of room for everyone to crash out on floors, couches, futons etc. We could head up friday, stay friday night, play all day saturday, sleep in on sunday, clean up and be home in time for a late supper.
The bar is well stocked, and there's a beer fridge just outside of the "gaming' area. The downstairs bathroom has a shower idealled designed and placed for a beer barrel, with a secondary door connecting it to the gaming area.
There's heat in the gaming area, and a back staircase that leads out to the garage for smokers.
I'm not sure what the '09 dates will be, but I'm all in for a Christmas time or new years rumble if Joe is squared away by then. Other than the Rock-con weekend where we have obligations, I'm sure we can work it out.
My parents usually take a trip sometime between Jan-march for a week to ten days. If we were to push it into early '10, we can plan it around their trip like we did last time for LG.
We're also close to where AJ is, so that's a bonus as well.
I'd say everyone who is interested has to commit by a certain date, with last minute whining resulting in a "shunning" by old school d-company members.
I'd definitely want to extend the invitation to the Rockford boys and Daryl's crew as well. For those of you flying "back" you could fly to minneapolis and be here in just over two hours. (Major Slovak?)
We should talk more about this Wolfman. We have time, of course. But the ball must roll, the chicken must cross the road, and the monkey must hurl crap.....

I wouldn't go that far, but everyone who was there for the 28 below game certainly earned their stripes.
I'd be prepared for some destruction though. The "Stromei-esey" will be epic.
I second the imperial v orks position.

Just give me a date with enough advance notice and I'll be there. I'd love to see a floor game at the Terry estate as it's own annual event. I don't even care if I have to wear a snowmobile suit and long-johns, just bring on one big, huge game with eveyone's gigantic models, all the cheese, flyers, hookers, and firetrucks. We should all chip in for some good food. The steaks on the grill were a great dinner break! I'm even cool with an all weekend game with no sleep! I've got dibs on Solar Marcharius and his gold-pimp suit!

No, as long as there is beer I'm happy. But, I would feel more comfortable playing an army I actually know how to play and have some experience with.

I understand. Like I said, for some of you, we'll try our best to work it out so that you don't feel slighted or upset if you can't play your own army. However, we are going to encourage people to build their own Super-Heavies and other Apocolypse formations (including - possibly - buildings and/or fortresses).
So, Seti, if you were to go and build something (a giant mobile death dealing machine that resembled either Ork or Imperial technology) that pointed out to 2500 or even 3000 points, and supplemented that with 50 or so infantry models (provided by us) and a few tanks (us, again), well then besides your little support force you'd be the ONLY one with experience handling your giant death machine.
The bonus here is that once you're done with whatever you've built, you can turn around and sell it, which should make up for whatever cash you've spent over the weekend road trip. Or, you might find that you like it, and hang on to it and use it in your own games.
Or maybe you make two such behemoths and forget the trooper support. And you just have two giant Titans (or Gargants) that plod around the battlefield blowing the shit out of everything in sight. I think you could handle that, yes?

Just giving my 2 cents...
I have a feeling people like Jay feel similar (though I'll let him speak for himself )
I'm sure Mark would be kind enough to point me some Orks and give me a crash course in how to use them.
