Gentlemen,

I just wanted to begin a wrap up thread for our 1812 tournament.  Officially, we had 24 people play.  I'd say that was a pretty good turn out.

Thanks to all that particpated, locally, regionally, and internationally.  I think that everyone had a good time, and even if you didn't win an award, there should be plenty of stories to tell of the times that were had.

Border searches, broken down cars, field sobriety tests, these are just some of the things that were seen and experienced during our tournament.

I also like to thank all of you for the gift certificate.  I didn't run the tournament to get a gift from you guys, but I am very humbled by your generosity.  And thanks to everyone that offered Swag for the Swag bags.  Putting those bags together was fun, like wrapping Christmas gifts for retards fun...

A number of you provided some help or feedback to me when this tournament was being planned and with swag.  I would especially like to thank Joe, Steve E., Chris Terry, and Peter for pre-planning, terrain, and other valuable consideration.

I'll post the tourney results when I get them back from Mr. Terry.

Thank you also to Adventures in Gaming for hosting our event.  The best way that you can thank them is to patronize them, and help them grow their business by becoming a regular, whether that is a customer or a player or both.  I know that they have a Thursday evening crowd that is into 40k and other GW games, and of course, they have games like Flames of War and Warmachine on other nights too.

I am going to start trying to make a point of getting there for that night too, starting this week.  I'd be happy to actually get to play against any of you.  Hopefully, my bolter sisters will be up to the game.

I think I speak for all of us when I say a heartfelt thanks for organizing a really fun event.

Hopefully we can get some pictures up (I saw lots of cameras around) for everyone to see as well.

Yes, thanks to everyone who set this up!

Great event, excellent tables. I will sure give Adventures in Gaming as much of my business as I can... More Dire Avengers are sure on the agenda.:P

And most important, good people. I have yet to run into a "Richard" in this group.(Napoleans people know of whom I speak.;)) And hey, we sure geeked up Club Paragon after the tourny... With all the 40k/post tourny talk I wonder why no hot women approached our group... Thanks Brad for footing our bill, I owe you many drinks the next time we go out. Finally great to meet the crew from up north, you guys shared some excellent stories.

All in all a wonderful event. Now I just have to make a base and objective markers for next year!

I loved the tournament, even though I came out a loser. :P The Swag Bags were a fantastic idea... thanks for the blackhawk!  It will add to the grot air force for the next big game.

I can't think of anything more that could have been improved.  I was ready for game #4, but probably at the end of game #4 I wouldn't have.  It was nice to not end at 1am all burned out.  The sports bar afterward was nice.  A good chance to meet everyone.

I played CTerry's Salamanders in my first game, and got smeared across the table and wiped out at bottom of turn six.  Yet the orks still had some great moments, shooting down half a squad of terminators and blowing up a Predator.

I played M.Major's Guardsmen (and one very brave Guardswoman!)  in my 2nd game, and still got beat, but by my Big Mek blowing himself up when clamping a Superstikkbomb to a Hellhound, and taking out a Nob in the resulting explosion as well!  Consolation prizes: Squad of 20-odd orks taking the whole east flank, wiping out three guardsman units and ending up on the objective in his deployment zone.  Blowing up a Hellhound and a Leman Russ (a victory for any ork).  Lotsa laughs in that game.

Grimlock in my 3rd game was the toughest, even though I won by a measley 5 points by turboboosting three bikes into his backfield.   We had to sprint through the last two turns, and I think that cost him the game.  He had me beat to a man, and hoards and HOARDS of little bugs left...

Thanks Kurt and Peter and Canadians and Joe and everyone else!  We are very lucky to have a D-Company!

Remember, if they don't have it, they can order it.  And if you pre-pay for the order, they knock 20% right off the top.  Not too shabby...

I just want to say thanks to Kurt for putting together a really great tournament.  And also I'd like to thank everyone who participated.  I generally can't stand tournaments simply because of the competitive jerk-offs I usually run into at such events.  But this tourney and Astronomicon are the two tournaments I can really enjoy simply because of the caliber of players involved.  We have fun.  And that seems to be top priority over everything else.  I didn't have a single issue with cocked dice, a stretched measurement or a B.S. rule dispute.  Funny how I've experienced problems with all those things at other tournaments, but rarely (if ever) experience them at the D-Comp. tourney or the Astro tourney.

Let's face it, we are freakin' awesome!  It was great seeing everyone again.  We really don't get together as a huge group very often, so it's always a treat to see all the smiling faces again.

Great Job.

I had a good time, but I think there was one thing that would have been helpful on a logistics end.

   1) Lunch. I have 3 cures for this (I get grumpy when I am hungery.)

    -   Either start the tourny earlier to give everybody at least an hour for Lunch. 30-   45 minutes was just not enough time.

    - Or put somebody in charge of Food so you don't have to cut into time. Say someboday takes a up a Pizza, Sub, etc... collection from "the people" who want to eat. They order and get the food for other so the game flow does not stop.

  - AIG starts up a grill, buys some soda, and a few sides, and charges us lowly dorks money for food.

Other than that, it ran smooth. I liked the senario's simple in play, but complicated with the battle points.
