First off thanks everyone for your input on my new army for an escalation league, or escalation games anyway. Watch for upcoming flufftastic fiction.
Anyway, I was up in NY for a couple days and had time to consider the options and all the new ideas generated by the question from you guys. Here's my thoughts and my new direction.
New army- Orks
The award for most original idea and unabashed enthusiasm goes to Wolfman and the Squats as marines idea. I love it, but it's going to have to be something I collect the pieces for over time, I have about 10 plastic squats that cterry bequeathed me last summer and that's it. The other consideration is that it would be another 'what if' army that I have to explain to an opponent who doesn't know me everytime I want to play. Which, since I already have several of those (fw renegades, lost and damned, and a genestealer cult) and since most of my gaming right now is/is going to be in game stores with strangers, get's old. We all know how hard it is to find an opponent with a real sense of humor.
My Ork army will be easy to identify, factory legal even i8f I make it with just a handful of GW bitz, and an interesting opportunity to model and paint.
So- hold on to your rhinos because here we come. And beware- Whhaaag Bejeezuz is being born as we speak, a mass of confusion and stomping.
There are spoors aloft, and somewhere a once and future Nob is fighting his way out of a mouldy cocoon and looking around for a pair of suspenders.

Outfuckinstanding, welcome to the Waagh.
Mark and I were rethinking about telling you to go that way because your army is going to make ours look like crap, but the more I think about it,the more I'm going back to my original thought.
So anyway, good luck

Two nights of building under my belt, I have a Weirdboy and a trukk.
The best thing about building orks is that any piece of plastic you snip off somewhere you just glue on somewhere else.
Zero waste.
Also- everything is a legitimate bit for building. Literally everything.
Me likey whazz-dagga bo micki poooooon. (That's how my boyz talk)

My titan is built from an outdoor light fixture that got knocked off the side of a Starbucks by a man-lift crane.
Literally everything.
